To craft The Balvenie 40 Year Old as part of the Rare Marriages series, Malt Master David Stewart has expertly blended aged malts from a selection of traditional American and European oak sherry butts, laid in Balvenie’s warehouses for at least 40 years. Winner of the gold award at the 2017 International Wine & Spirits Competition, it’s a refined marriage of exceptional character.

NOSE

Intensely fruity with a delicate floral fragrance, showcasing notes of dried apricots, citrus, and ginger spice, alongside hints of vanilla and a warm touch of oak.

PALATE

Floral nuances develops further, complemented by candied ginger, cinnamon, honey, vanilla and well integrated oak. Sherried fruitiness ties everything together beautifully.

FINISH

Sweet and warm with a honeyed and citrus richness.
