An exciting single cask release from Chichibu distillery, brought to us by independent bottlers Berry Bros & Rudd. Distilled in 2014 and aged in first-fill barrel #3351, it was bottled in 2021 as part of their Exceptional Casks series – the first Japanese single malt in this collection to earn this honor. Just 213 bottles exist, each filled at robust cask strength of 57.6% ABV, capturing Chichibu’s spirit in every drop.
NOSE
Ripe mango and lime aromas waft from the glass, blending with spiced custard over apple sponge cake. Refined maltiness and a hint of coconut unfold with a little time.
PALATE
A rich, velvety palate starting with dried malt, unfolding into citrus, apricot yogurt, and banana bread, and a hint of wood smoke.
FINISH
The finish reveals spiced crème brûlée, dried apple, and a juicy hint of ripe pineapple – a masterstroke of Japanese whisky craft.
