ABOUT THE DISTILLERY

The Ontake Distillery was launched by Nishi Shuzo, a company whose history goes way back to 1845. These days, Nishi Shuzo is best known for its line of sweet potato shochu under the brand name Houzan. The company is also behind Tenshino Yuuwaku, one of TWSC 2020’s Superior Gold winners in the shochu division.

The name “Ontake” collectively refers to the three tallest peaks of Sakurajima: Kitadake, Nakadake, and Minamidake.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Ontake, distilled in 2022.

PLEASE NOTE

Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer’s transaction.

Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e Japan excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
